If you have exported MARC records from FOLIO, updated them, and now wish to reimport them, data import can do this.

This process assumes you have records with an 001 that came from FOLIO, because when you reload the records, the import profile will match on the 001 and then replace the existing record with the one you are importing.

Steps:

  1. Go to the data import app.
  2. Drag and drop your MARC file to the upload area of the data import screen.
  3. The screen will update to show you the available data import profiles. Select "Bib and Instance Maintenance".
  4. The third panel on your screen will update to show you the details of the job profile. You can see that we are going to match the 001 from the MARC to the HRID in FOLIO. On our FOLIO records, the instance HRID and the 001 from the MARC record should always match. You can also see that we are going to complete an action called "Update Instance". This action will update both the instance and its MARC record. For the majority of records, MARC will determine almost of all of the fields in the instance.
  5. In the third pane, you'll see a menu called "Actions". Click that menu and then select "Run".
  6. Confirm that you want complete this job with the profile you have selected by clicking "Run".
  7. The screen will now update to show you data import logs. You should see your job running in the left hand panel.
    1. If instead you see a large "Resume" button, click the "Resume" button, then click "Data Import" in the FOLIO menu bar, once you do these two steps, you'll be back in the right place. This is a bug that will be fixed for Iris.
  8. On the logs screen, you should see your job near the top along with status information about your job indicating whether it completed successfully.
