Announcements
Tony announced that the 2010 ACRL Conference "Immersion '10 (Teacher and Program Tracks)" will take place in Burlington, Vermont.
Report on Bibliographic assignments, Educause Clickers, and Peer Instruction Webinar
Tony expresses his satisfaction with the bibliographic assignments. He is pleased that students make progress with clickers. Lynn believes there is still a margin of progress to use them more effectively.
Library Guides Committee Membership Update
Lynn expressed an interest in volunteering for this committee.
More new LIPP Participants
A staffer at the Engineering Library said he will join. Lynn suggests a new, less formal format, "a brown bag thing" which may take place during Spring Break.
Mission statement review
A sub group is working on a draft mission statement. The statement is expected for the end of the semester.
Session on Active Learning Techniques / Learning Outcomes
Tony and others promote active/e- learning and the message that new technologies need to be incorporated in the classroom is increasingly popular. Gaby argues that it is important to make learning outcomes measurable, without setting anything in stone. She will come with proposals.
Panel Presentation on LIPP
We had low turnout, perhaps because of the timing and location, however, participation from those who attended was good, and we recruited two additional partners. Lynn suggested a less formal Brown Bag on the LIPP program to continue spreading the word.
Other Business
Laurent asks whether it could be possible to have an online database of classes offered in the Library, including RMC. Laurent and Gaby exchange impressions about teaching.
