Announcements and Updates
The Information Competency Initiative is soliciting applications for the April 2 deadline.
Report on Feb 25 PSEC structure meeting
Pat and Tony attended this meeting of all members of PSEC and chairs of PSEC umbrella committees. The meeting covered the history, evolution, and current mission of the PSEC for Janet's review. In the future, chairs of umbrella committees will be members of PSEC steering committe and the liaisons' role will change. In April, Janet will announce restructuring plan.
Feb brown bag on Wikipedia:
There was a good turnout, and good, engaged discussion representing many different views. We want to do more of this kid of brown bag. Inside Higher ed article on topic a week after brown bag so the more we know about how it works the better. Wendy had another idea for a future brown bag--the container. How are we viewing the media itself vs. the container? Maybe ask Wendy for more info, links. Additional brown bags: Evaluation, needs assessment, etc. Monthly discussion perhaps too frequent; perhaps once a semester Informal discussion generated by needs assessment and polling of library through EventBrite or Checkbox. PSEC Instruction will schedule them beforehand, set agenda, block out set rooms and times.
Do an April brown bag-Camille can set up room and time. Possiblecollaboration with R&O -continue ACRL roundup? Also possibly a summer brown bag. Maybe try debate forum? Pro/con format.
Camille will send needs assessment to everybody. Camille, Jaron and Lynn will set up April and summer brown bags
Proposal for LIPP prof dev day-panel in May
8-9 people involved; Tony is facilitating. Proposed date adn time is May 20, 2-3 PM. Tony also sending notice to David Way. Jaron and Amy Emerson now doing peer consulting .
Digital Literacy contest:
Please promote digital literacy contest on April 9 from 4:30-6 in Mann B30A, Mann 112 and Stone classroom. We get the student data and we promote IL .
Regional Immersion
Tony follwed up with organizers and we decided not to do this because the Regional Immersion folks were on hold (the regional immersion hasn't been held on a regular basis b/c applications not sufficient). Also there is a Regional Immersion license fee of $45 K which you would forfeit if nto enough enrollment.
Somaly and Camille will share their experiences and materials from this summer's national Immersion Teacher and Program tracks.
