Cornell has an indoor climbing gym (Lindseth) at Bartels Hall. Google Maps link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/g7EspXm4zKmqmSsS9
Lindseth has 3 different kinds of climbing
- Bouldering
- No rope, only mat/cushion on the ground, shorter but challenging routes
- No certifications necessary
- Top rope
- Rope from the top, tall routes
- You don't need a certificate to climb, but you'll need a certified belayer to belay you unless you use the auto-belay device (limited climbing routes). You'll need to get certified at using auto-belay device as well but this only takes ~10 minutes or so for training and certification
- You'll need to get tested and certified to belay people
- Lead
- Rope from bottom, very tall routes
- You'll need to take and pay for Lindseth's "How to Lead" class specifically, take the test, and then get certified for this
- You'll need a belayer who is also lead-certified
