Hi Seth,

This is very interesting, as we are featuring your program in one of our upcoming mailings, as some of the seed funds for the project came from the Cornell Annual Fund for Engineering as I understand it.  At the very least, I'd be delighted to put a link about your program on the annual fund website once the mailing is sent as a way to promote more awareness about what you are doing. If you have other information you'd want us to add, just send it along.

In terms of other outreach in fundraising through Cornell, one of the challenges is, of course, that I'm doing fundraising with alumni and parents 24/7 for the campaign, and there are some fairly specific rules about approaching alumni etc for gifts by student organizations.  However, I suspect your program has some exceptional promise for foundation support and I can try to point you in the right direction to do a grant proposal for that purpose.  I've pasted below an e-mail that has some reference material for you to check out.

Foundation Directory available to Cornell Community

Foundation Relations is pleased to report that an excellent search tool is now available to the entire Cornell Community through the Cornell University Library.   Cornell's subscription to the Foundation Directory Online provides access to information about public and private foundations in the U.S., useful profiles, and links to foundation web sites.

Access: First use Bear Access to get to the Cornell Library's Gateway. http://www.library.cornell.edu/. Right near the top you can click on Find Databases and then on Grants and Foundations.  (You can also Bookmark this spot for future reference.) Then, click on the link to the Foundation Directory Online.

You can do a "Foundation Search" or a "Grant Search."  Basic navigation of the site is straightforward, with clear boxes to enter your search terms.  Clicking on the label for each search field will easily open an Index for that field.  Just click and the search term will be entered automatically for easy searches.

(Optional) Finer points:
On the left side of the Foundation Directory Online webpage you will see the link to a Tutorial.  Once you enter either the Foundation Search or the Grants Search, you can also access tutorial information through the Help buttons at the top of every page.

(Corporate Giving:  This directory includes endowed company foundations, as distinct from other direct company giving.)
