Student & Campus Life employees are required to complete designated coursework, in compliance with University policies and conditions of their employment. This resource has been developed for you to serve as a reference of the requirements and available resources.

Helpful Reminders

  • We expect your partnership in achieving 100% compliance by scheduling time for employees to complete required trainings and following up with employees if they do not complete it by the course deadline.
  • Some individuals—especially student employees—may hold multiple campus positions. Please address all incomplete coursework with every employee on your list, even if the course is not related to the work you supervise.
  • Deadlines vary based on individual coursework and when the course is assigned to the employee.
  • Courses are offered through Workday Learning and require a NetID to access.
  • Some completed courses may take time to display in Workday Learning; employees may provide a screenshot of automated confirmation if needed.
  • You are encouraged to track employee status in Workday and review departmental progress via the Training Compliance portal, as well as via the Learning app in Workday. A quick guide to Workday navigation is provided below. Note, that page 1 includes the courses required of all Cornell employees; in the Workday Learning app, you can view all outstanding trainings your direct reports have been assigned or enrolled in. We also encourage direct follow-up by managers with employees on their other outstanding trainings.
  • Suggested best practice is for the follow-up with individuals to be administered by each manger to their direct reports so that conversations around balancing priorities and workload occurs.
  • Some courses were developed to send automated reminders from Workday Learning to employees after the course due date as passed. These reminders will continue if they are scheduled in Workday as specified in the attached guide.
  • If your list includes employees who are no longer actively working, please email sclhr@cornell.edu and share when the employee’s last day of work was and their reason for leaving.
  • For questions or assistance, contact sclcompliance@cornell.edu

Additional Resources and Notes

All course assignments will appear on an employee’s Workday Learning homepage under the Required for You section. Staff may need to enable pop-ups to launch the course, for which they should follow instructions in the email they received when the course was assigned. These courses are designed to work on a range of devices and web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge). As a result of rigorous testing, we do not recommend attempting to complete the training on a smartphone using Chrome, as this combination may result in technological glitches. If staff have browser trouble, please contact SSIT support SCL - Portal Home and include browser information.
