Background: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Muenster (antigenic formula 3,{10}{15}{15,34}:e,h:1,5) is a serovar of the O:3,10 (E1) serogroup. This serovar is susceptible to lysogeny by phage ε15, which can result in the replacement of factor O:10 with factor O:15; lysogenized serovars with factor O:15 are then further susceptible to lysogeny by phage ε34 (O:15 → O:15,24).
