Scope: A statement of Library policy on the creation of catalog records, developed by the Theses & Dissertations Advisory Group.
Date created: March 2015
In order to ensure access to all materials in its collections, Cornell University Library creates permanent, openly accessible, online catalog records. This includes theses and dissertations. Catalog records are essential to the Library for the management of its resources, and to Library users as a means of discovering and identifying materials of interest.
To better manage and promote its collections, CUL shares its catalog records with other resource discovery services. Such activities are done on a collection-wide basis and in conformance with a standard set of practices.
