Craig A. Wheeler joined Momenta Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as Chief Executive Officer in September 2006. He also serves as a member of the company’s board of directors. Momenta Pharmaceuticals is a biotechnology company specializing in the detailed characterization and engineering of complex drugs. In July 2010 Momenta and its collaboration partner Sandoz received FDA approval for the first ever generic Lovenox. In May 2012, The Boston Globe named Momenta the number one company in their annual Globe 100 survey of top performing companies. Craig also serves as the Board Chairman for The Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA) for which he was elected in February of 2014. Prior to Momenta, Craig worked at Chiron Corporation as President, Chiron BioPharmaceuticals, which had products treating cancer, cystic fibrosis, and multiple sclerosis. Prior to joining Chiron, Craig was a senior member of The Boston Consulting Group’s health care practice. Craig also served as the Chairman of the Board of Avanir Pharmaceuticals from May 2007 until it was acquired in January 2015 by Otsuka Pharmaceuticals for $3.5 billion. He holds a B.S. and an M.S. degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
