  • Updates/announcements; (all)
    Tony reported on a new certificate on teaching as offered by CTE. Seminars offered in different areas (link) and you must attend a seminar in every area over two years, plus a capstone project. Two tracks: Teaching Excellence and Teaching with Technology. Certification by CTE, likely not endorsed by the state. www.cte.cornell.edu/faculty/teachercert.html
  • Discuss the future of Library Guides committee; (Jaron)
    Jaron met with Lance to discuss committee and subcommittee communication. Proposal to join committees; Library Guides subcommittee is slated to reup in June (composed of Susan Kendrick, Camille Andrews, Lance, and Lynn) and Instruction needs to develop a plan for how the mission and goals of these two committees work together. Perhaps re-designate the subcommittee as Instructional Technologies. Propose a joint January Meeting with Instruction and Library Guides. Discussion of usability and long-term committment t LibGuides product.
  • Feedback from the PSEC exe mtg where our committee goals and priorities were shared; (see attachment at bottom of the page)
  • Update on the priority discussion report with Kathy and Deb, current chairs of PSEC Exe;
  • Janet's email re: Mary Och's involvement in library-wide instruction;
    Mary is taking over Janet's role as the lead in library-wide Instruction
    activities; Mary would like to attend future Instruction Committee meetings for information gathering/sharing; the committee will responsible for leading Instruction activities library-wide
  • Planning for December R&O forum; Mark your calendars for Tuesday, Dec. 14th, from 9:30-11:00am.

Question about Blackboard; Tony and Oya are the library representatives for the Blackboard Upgrade Implementation Team (campus-wide); question is how to get more specific information at the course or discipline level. There are a number of Blackboard Modules that could be created for library instruction that could then be downloaded to specific courses. LibGuides can be easily added to as a button to Blackboard.
