Working Group: PR

Brandon

Accomplishments

• Sent out emails to WSP, Cornell Chronicle, and Cornell Alumni Magazine.

• Talked to P4HH about coordinated efforts with AguaClara. Narayana and I will attend their meeting Sunday night; they present to us on Monday.

• Updated all of the journal info on the wiki

• Min set up some presentations for the coming weeks

• P4HH wants to join efforts with AguaClara in the near future

• Finished working on contact email and updated the errors in the original email.

Issues

• Currently working on the cover letter for the pamphlets and brochures that are to be mailed in the coming weeks.

• Working to contact someone at the UN (Possibly Jeff Sachs)

• Next week I plan on working with Min to make sure that the presentation is set for Museum of the Earth.

Min

Accomplishments

• Brought back footer display of Children pages by request
• Brought back left side bar links by request
• Added in drop-down Navigation Menu that displays all children links at all levels, regardless of what page one is currently viewing
• Confirmed with Leo for the translation of the 9 main pages

Metrics

Outcomes

• Slow(er) Wiki
• Will have the first layer of main pages translated for Spanish Wiki by Apr 11
• Aesthetically 'lighter' look of website
• Horizontal scrollbar appeared due to new formatting of layout

Issues

• Drop-down Navigation Menu slows down Wiki, will probably change it two 2 levels (pros: faster than it is now & it is easier to find subtopics with drop down menu; cons: still slow)
• Horizontal scrolling is ugly and intrusive on the formatting of pages (is is due to the header?)
• Headings, body text, subheading text's CSS must be edited. Some text is too small, some text is overwhelmingly big. Affects legibility of drop-down Navigation Menu. Will find out how ASAP.

Working Group: Fundraising

Joe

Accomplishments

• Submitted Tech Awards Grant (TAG) after it was edited by Narayana. I also did some minor edits in order to meet the word limit
• Met and emailed with Narayana concerning TAG and the Engineering Sustainability Conference, both of these issues were resolved.
• Researched Community Foundation of Tompkins County and CUTonight as potential sources for funding. Both were ruled out due to a lack of fit with the program.
• Spoke to contact in Daily Sun about article on AguaClara (note: this was NOT Jeff Katz); they said they were working on it.
• Began looking at Ford Foundation (website crashed) and will continue doing to this week

Metrics

• TAG submitted!

Outcomes

• One grant taken care of allowing us to concentrate on other grants as well as revising the 5 year plan.
• New group model is effective.

Issues

• Will draft letter fro Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
• Will find contact as well as fill out info for the Ford Foundation (Note: this information should be carefully looked over as the Ford Foundation tends to scrutinize applications very closely.)
