Speaker releases and copyright agreements
In order to minimize legal risk, the university is increasing scrutiny of marketing permissions, copyright protection, and compliance of copyrights. With that in mind, below are the guidelines, FAQs, and speaker releases/copyright agreements that AAD leadership and the Office of University Counsel have approved for our division moving forward:
- Explanation of Guidelines
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Standard Recording Release
- Cornell University Faculty and Staff do NOT need to sign these.
- Cornell University Alumni and Students DO need to sign these.
- These should be used only if the speakers are not presenting any audio/visual material. If they are, they should sign the Performance Agreement instead.
- Performance Agreement
- This should be used for ANY speaker who is presenting any audio/visual material in their presentations.
- If someone signs a performance agreement, they do not need to sign a standard recording release too.
