Design Goals


Fall 2008 Goals

  1. Overall Goal – continue to improve the automation of the design with built in checks for reasonable values ie. When can sed tank water depth be lowered from the 2m design.
      • Whole Team to be divided as issues are encountered
  2. Aid Honduras Team with individual plant designs as they are presented to us

  3. Explore other methods of designing the sedimentation tank. Should b be set?

  4. Adjust baffle placement in the flocculation tank for odd numbered baffles

  5. Create design pages for sample tanks at different flow rates. For flow rates from 50 gal/min to 1200 gal/min in 100 gal/min increments. Pages will note what portions of the design aren't automated and recommend values.
    ***We will be working in pairs initially for these, but will split off for efficiency in 1 month.
      • To be completed by Oct. 15
  6. Documenting Design Algorithms on the Wiki -
    ***Sara - Lamella, Sedimentation, Slopes, Exit Channel
    ***Tania - Math Functions, Pipe Database, Inlet Channel, Fluids Functions
    ***Cherish - User Inputs, Design Assumptions, Entrance Tank, Minor Loss Coefficients
    ***Reiko - FCM, Fluids Functions, Launder, Sludge Drain
