Website review – part of the services review now taking place, considering how will each service look in 3-5 years
Last time Libguides were reviewed for accessibility, needed CUL-IT help for running things like SiteImprove. Could be helpful/necessary to have a developer who works on accessibility to contact or to contribute their ideas of best accessibility practices.
Where and how are users discovering LibGuides?
How to search for duplicate guides (especially if duplicate titles)?
Use rate shows on the guide
Can we gather feedback on the guides (Ex: faculty often say they like the guides), document how they are being used in teaching?
CUL staff/internal use of guides. For example, those on Chat often use the subject guides to help get a patron started, especially for subjects outside that person’s own subject areas
Adding LibGuides to Canvas:
Need to ask faculty member to add you to the Canvas site in order to post the guide within Canvas
Many profs just link out to the guide
It’s possible to create a Librarian category in Canvas so the roles are clear, also means you can use Canvas-natives assessment tools. Would need some kind of developer help to do this.
Ways of displaying courses and LibGuides feels separated.
What is the best way to promote the guides?
Could we do a Before and After comparison of usability of LibGuides? Propose for spring semester, focus on discoverability as well
Adam Chandler has stats on earlier LibGuide traffic, may still have that information
Revisit Accessibility Basics:
Many elements are not incorporated, such as using Headings and Subheadings within LibGuides. Instead people use bold for a header, but a screen reader won’t recognize that as a header.
Put semester and year on course guides as a naming convention. You can then make the guide private after that semester ends.
