Auto Configuration

Thunderbird and Outlook can auto configure their settings for the CNF email server.

Outlook Considerations

For outlook (Desktop version on Windows) to auto configure itself, you must use the classic "Mail" email account setup. The new Modern style setup wizard only works for Office365 accounts.

  1. Right click on the start menu
  2. Choose "Run"
  3. Type in "control.exe"
  4. In the control panel window, search for "Mail"
  5. Double click Mail
  6. Choose to add a new account, which will fire off the classic add a mail account wizard.

Manual Configuration

Because each email client differs in how it presents and names configuration options, we can only provide general configuration guidenace as below:

Incoming

Protocol: IMAP

Port: 993

Security: SSL/TLS

Authentication Type: Password

Server name: parcel.cnf.cornell.edu

IMAP Idle: Yes

Outgoing

Protocol: SMTP

Port: 587 (for outlook mobile use port 465)

Security: StartTLS

Authentication Type: Password
