Bert uses special hardware and software, so the upgrade must be planned to reduce unpleasant surprises.

We reinitated the discussion to upgrade Bert's computer, from phone conversation with Oliver, Monday, 6/30/14 regarding Zip drive access (Remedy ticket INC000001136570),.

Upgrade computer

Since it's a Dell OptiPlex 755 running WinXP, repalce with a new computer, running PhysIT's Win7 image (with MS Outlook, etc.)

Must also buy and add:

The full Acrobat. To write and edit PDFs.

Ensure good scanner

If must replace current scanner, buy one that meets the same needs.

Flatbed, so can scan color gels
Must have decent OCR software to use with scanner's output.

Ensure access to Brio is complete

Bert checked today (6/30/14) with Rosemary, and he confirmed that on her work computer (Win7 Enterprise; Q: Our image?), he can access all his views (subclasses) in Brio, to meet his needs for instruction.

Initially we were concerned because certain necessary views (subclasses) done from his home computer (Windows, IE) don't work.
