Network Connectivity Program (NCP): ST Olin and Baker Lab

WARNINGS and status updates regarding the phone and network wiring being upgraded in ST Olin Research Wing and Baker Lab. (PSB already has a modern network).

WARNINGS and status update, 12/8/2012

WARNING: Downtime, in ST Olin, now through 12/22/12.

WHEN and WHERE: Over the next two weeks (12/10-12/22/12), in ST Olin.

WHAT: The previously announced "cutting-over" from the old wiring to the new wiring, transitioning computers, printers, and phones.

IMPACT: DOWNTIME will occur as a result of the transition to new wiring. Specifically, we anticipate that:

Please be aware that a large number of network devices, primarily printers, will be changing network addresses. This will require making configuration changes on each computer and printer to re-establish connectivity to these devices. Chemistry IT (CRCF) will attempt to provide as much information and direct assistance as possible to research group liaisons on the changes. And we will assist any user that needs assistance during and after the transition.

For ST Olin, we will work "floor-by-floor" to help concentrate CRCF staff's efforts We will naturally be attentive to get to any problems reported as quickly as possible, but we recognize that we won't necessarily be as responsive as we normally can be. Indeed, this is a project in which we will depend on each group's "group liaison" to assist CRCF staff in determining if users are having problems.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we, together, work though any transition connectivity problems.  Thank you!
