Agalteca is located in the municipality of Cedros, Francisco Morazán, Honduras approximately 1.5 hours outside of Tegucigalpa. The community has a population of 2,160. Their water source is Rio Santa Clara.

The Agalteca ground breaking ceremony was held on September 30, 2009. Construction of the plant began October 5, 2009.
