Accomplishments

• Team members: Tanya, Shaina, Adela
• Set up the experiment and testing apparatus
• Re-routed the system
• Wrote the code for the Process Controller methods and debugged the system
• Calibrated the sensors and water level
• Identified logistics and meeting times for the team

From Wednesday:

• Chose a team leader: Tanya
• Reviewed sand filter theory and experimental setup
• Reviewed process controller basics
• Revewied summer expectations:
  Determined experimental parameters for measuring air removal and discussed experiments
  Parameters:

1. Bed depth (quantity of sand)
2. Dissolved air concentration
3. Grain size / porosity
4. Upflow velocity / bed expansion

Experiments:

1. Varying bed depth with other parameters held constant
2. Varying dissolved air concentration with all other parameters held constant
3. Varying bed expansion with other parameters held constant
4. Trying to measure dissolved oxygen and correlate it with results from the bubble collector

Tasks:

1. Develop a MathCAD based upon experimental results

Goals for upcoming week

• Write Detailed Task List and Research Proposal
• Make sure that the setup system works properly
• Continue debugging Process Controller methods
• Try to run experiments
