For the demo plant instruction manual please include:
1. Procedure for set-up complete with labeled pictures for major steps.
2. Recommended Alum and Clay doses. (Someone on the team must know this, or we can just play with it.)
3. Tips for operating, i.e. stir clay in stock tank when it appears to be settling
4. Steps for how to pack best in suitcase with picture.
Please have a laminated paper copy for inclusion with the demo plant in the suitcase and a wiki copy here.

1. Have base of the demo plant placed firmly on the table and then attach the short, white tube on top of it.
2.Place the section labeled "mid section" with the jars labeled "Clay" and "Alum" ontop on the white tube
3.Place the section labed "top section" ontop of the mid section.
4. Connect the tubes and valves with their respective jars and bottles by matching up the colors. The long red tube should be attached to the red clay solution stock jar, green tube to green clay solution float valve jar, yellow tube to yellow alum stoc solution bottle, clear skinny tube to clear alum solution float valve bottle and the white tube to the white rapid-mix cylinder. Note that one end of the white tube is not connected to any thing yet.
The end of the tubes going into the rapid-mix cylinder can go in any hole you please, but if placed in the lower holes you won't have to wait as long for flocs to form during presentations, since the flowrates will be the highest. Be sure that the valves are closed until you are completely set-up.
5. Set up the flocculator and the sedimentation tank. To have them stand up, place the three stands around their cylindrical bases, one on each end and one in between the two pieces. One of the the stands has only one screw in it and should be placed on the outflow side of the sed tank to have the best stability. Place the flocculator to the left of the sed tank and connect the two at their bottom tubes. Make sure that the sed tank is upright by ensuring that the bottom tube is sealed at the right end and the top tube has an opening at the right end.
6. Fill the flocculation and sedimenatation sections with water. If you wait until after set-up is complete the flocculator and sedimentation tank will have a hard time filling up. It also saves time during presentations.
7. place the other end of the white tube into the baffles, be sure that this end of the white tube is lower in height than the inlet to the white tube before the valve.
8. After connect the end piece to the top right end of the lamella.
9. Put enough water and clay in the in the dirty water jar for the water to look cloudy. For every bottle of water put ¼ teaspoon of alum.
1. Stir the clay stock solution to resusped settled clay particles. Repeat this step as necessary throughout the presentation.
2. Place a bucket under the outlet of the sed tank to collect treated water. If on a table, attach another tube (if availble) to direct the falling water into the bucket.
3. Check that the outflow tubes from the float control jars are in the rapid-mix hole that you want them to be in.
4. Open all valves.
5. Check for leaks and fix by tightening connections (push tube in farther) or strategically placeing sponges.
6. Wait for flocs to form!
1. Close all Valves
2. Dump water out in sink
3. Rinse all components such that ther will be no dried-on clay
4. Dry with paper towels
5. Place back into suitcase
