Sara: Interview rooms - #?, open group study areas, individual & group rooms (I'd love to add what we're losing in terms of these rooms from the 4th floor to the 3rd floor), reservable spaces - what should be on it and how many?, testing space for new technology/furniture, flex classroom, TA space, faculty/grad space?, A/V Production Room - change expectations; possibly shift to another floor, more whiteboards, variety of seating & tables, supply vending machines, food vending machines, more presentation practice space, counter height seating, quick print/email areas

Here's an outline for spaces on all the floors:

Basement

  • classrooms
  • nook spaces - low-tech
  • netprint

Lobby

  • hang out space
  • loud group study area
  • collaboration lab

1st Floor

  • combined circ & info desk
  • reference consultation area
  • research pc's
  • low-tech nook areas for groups
  • casual seating for conversations - maybe start to get faculty/students/grads in one area where conversations can take place; the lobby is too noisy
  • study tables
  • TA space
  • research display space
  • new shelving for reference material
  • CISER help desk
  • GIS/Data consultation area
  • netprint

2nd Floor

  • collaborative space
  • open group study areas
  • writing center
  • interview rooms
  • presentation rooms - at least 2
  • plotting and specialized equipment
  • netprint
  • scanning stations
  • slide scanning station
  • testing space for furniture, equipment, and design
  • multimedia stations/AV room - need to reconfigure but this should live on the 2nd floor
  • multimedia software consulation
  • individual rooms
  • group study room - may be able to remove these if we add enough open group study and presentation rooms

3rd Floor

  • quiet study space
  • individual rooms - i think the ones that we lose from the 4th floor should go on the this floor
  • graduate study area
  • Ellis collection - can we use this space better? Could we extend the grad study are into this space?  Could we build up the balcony area with clear walls so that the sounds doesn't travel as much?
