Undergraduate Food Safety Studies at the University of Maryland: Prospective undergraduate students interested in the discipline of Food Safety are encouraged to apply for the Food Science undergraduate program.Currently, there is no Food Safety specific major at the University of Maryland. However, this program provides outstanding food safety training to students with a number of food safety, food microbiology, food quality, food processing, and epidemiology courses. In addition, undergraduates have excellent opportunities available to perform food safety research at multiple departments and colleges in the University of Maryland.

Graduate Studies in Food Safety at the University of Maryland: Prospective graduate students interested in continuing their education in Food Safety are encouraged to apply for an MS or PhD in the Graduate Program in Food Science. This program is an interdepartmental program that draws upon faculty and resources from several departments and institutes including Nutrition and Food Science, Animal and Avian Sciences, Plant Science and Landscape Architecture, Bioengineering, Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics, Maryland Institute for Applied Environmental Health in the School of Public Health, and the Institute for Systems Research in the School of Engineering.
