AFS: Andew File System. Allows kerberized access.

Goal

The turning off of CCMR's AFS server causes no interruption. Specifically:

• Ensure all current dependencies on CCMR's AFS services (Eldore, Skeeve, home directories from Windows workstations) are provisioned elsewhere.

Strategy

Explore options. Budget and otherwise characterize options, perhaps with a recommendation if trade-offs are clear enough.

Migrate services to selected option(s).

Option 1: Use A&S's Network Attached Storage (NAS) service.

• We would first have to characterize the amount of space needed.
• Via CIFS?
• Works easiest if connecting machines are on CU AD. All of the needed ones are or can be? (But possible if they are not.)

• CRCF's file service server to Freed group (~1GB?). => CRCF's Roger Garnett has more info.
• Box.com
• CIT's SFS (NFS or CIFS)
• Other?

Current CCMR billing, which covers far more than AFS f
