Gracias Design

• Tania, Reiko, and Cherish met with Monroe to discuss design constraints and goals for the Gracias design.
• Two groups were formed to focus on the major variable of the sed tank width. Cherish and Tania focused on single width plants. and Reiko and Sara focused on sed tanks of double width.
• It was determined that two plants would be constructed so that one plant would only need to handle 800 gal/min. The two plants combined would be able to handle the total flow of 1600 gal/min.

Sed. Tank Velocities

John and Tamar noticed issues of floc settling out in the entrance pipe into the sed tanks. Thus reasearch is being done to determine an algorithm that determines the minimun velocity needed in the sed tank slopes to keep the flocs suspended into the tank. Once this velocity is determined the sed tank program and slopes program will be updated to try and encorporate this velocity into the design. The constraint of not breaking up floc needs to be integrated into minimum velocity requirement.
