Topic 1

Camille reported on her experience at Immersion with handouts - schedules from teaching track and program track.
Pre-Reading - Seven faces of Information Literacy by Christine Bruce
Day 1
Differrence between bibliographic instruction and Info Lit
Transformation in instruction. Why are we doing this?
Learning outcomes discussion (outcomes worksheet)
Thinking about yourself as a teacher / Program track -> bibliographich instruction to authentic/active learning.
Day 2
Teaching track - presentation style, etc
Program track - how to lead a program
A little lecture but mostly active learning

Day 3

Teaching track - working on assignments and share with grooup. Teaching presentation with feedback.
Program track - environmental scan: what is in place already, pick a piece and create action plan and refine it. Assessment. Changing frameworks - what are the attitudes etc you are trying to change.

Day 4
Teaching track - personally changing attitudes, personal philosophy
Program track - personnel

Question: should we have tracks?
Camille: Of two minds. Useful to split out, but important that everyone have same grounding.
Immersion will send a proposed schedule.

Note schedule - 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.  It is an extremely intensive experience

Planning for Immersion
Drafting and posting announcement. How to word announcement to give realistic view of Immersion and workload without frightening people away. Testimonials from Gaby and Camille.
Setting up registration.
How to distribute - Janet or Mary and Jaron to directors; and message to targeted audience
Cutoff date?? Cap with waitlist. Librarians from India?

Two working groups? Schedule of events and logistics?
