VPN Connection Required if Not on a Campus Network
- Cornell NetID users may connect either to the general Cornell VPN or to the RS-CNF-VPN-Thin group VPN if not on a campus network
- Cornell GuestID users must request access to and connect to the RS-CNF-VPN-Thin group VPN if not on a campus network
Lab Transfer Share
- Use "Option 2" below
- Download and install an SFTP client
- Connect to Cornell VPN if not on a campus network
- Connect to remote.cnf.cornell.edu
...
Option 2 - SFTP (Use this method to remotely access the Lab Transfer share)
- Connect to VPN if not on a campus network
- Connect via SFTP to remote.cnf.cornell.edu
- Login with the SHORT version of your Cornell NetID/GuestID and associated password
- If you receive an error box "Error looking up user groups", don't worry... just click "OK" and you can continue logging in
- Initially, you will be working directly out of your AFS home folder
- You can move up directory levels to get to CNF shares or to someone else's home folder – the lab transfer share is accessible at the top level folder: /cnflab
