Approach
Make each computer as identical as possible so that each can take over the job of any of the other ones, given the appropriate peripheral (scanner/ printer).
- Identify applications or files which must be configured to enable a computer's specific, unique function.
- Ensure those files or configuration information is available to apply to any of the other computers in the event that computer is not available.
- Backup changing data files to ensure a rapid and accurate restoration process.
Reading the below table bottom-to-top: It's a "stack", at one end it has software fulfilling basic needs (OS and such) and ending with unique, changing, data files recording actions and results.
