Moved from CIT.CORNELL.EDU to CORNELL.EDU for AFS

We have migrated

...

We are migrating NetID Users from CIT.CORNELL.EDU to CORNELL.EDU . This migration begins with newly provisioned NetIDs on or after Monday, February 23, 2025 . These NetID users will use CORNELL.EDU (or cornell.edu) just like GuestID Users. Previously provisioned NetID Users will continue to use CIT.CORNELL.EDU (or cit.cornell.edu ).

Overview

NetID/GuestID

Your Cornell Netid or Guestid is used to access central Cornell services, the Coral lab management system, the CNF AFS file server, and login to the CNF Thin service and Windows workstations.

...

The long version of your netid/guestid looks just like the short version, but with some extra information, called the Realm, appended to the end. For a netid, this will be either @CIT.CORNELL@CORNELL.EDU or @cit@cornell.cornell.edu . And for a Legacy Guestid, the extra information is one of @GUEST.CORNELL.EDU or @guest.cornell.edu . For a Cornell GuestID, the extra information is also either @CORNELL.EDU or @cornell.edu. See below for when to use uppercase or lowercase after the @ sign.  The portion of your netid/guestid before the @ symbol will always be lowercase.

...

Login to windows using the short version of your netid/guestid (if you attempt to login to Windows itself as user@CIT.CORNELL.EDU, you will receive a strange nonsensical error).

To keep your private data private, remember to logout of Windows by choosing "Log Off" from the Start menu.

Workday Learning (replaces CULearn)

Logins to CULearn use Workday Learning use different URLs depending on whether one is using a Cornell NetID or a Cornell GuestID and your status with Cornell. Everyone else including alums will use a separate login. For GuestID users, Workday Learning logins . Use the short version of your netid or guestid to login to CULearn. And GuestID CULearn logins use a separate password not synchronized with your normal GuestID password. See the CULearn Workday Learning Trainings page for more information.
