• Contribute to optimizing administration of Chemistry's Linux systems, including research servers and workstations.
  • Educate and advise IT staff on Linux-based tools and processes.

• • Discover and R&D alternative solutions.
    • Work with group's technical staff to vet and implement new solutions in a sustainable fashion.

• Ability to work well with others is essential.

• • Participate in documenting architecture, processes, and decisions.

  • Advise on .
  • Install operating systems and applications on Windows and Macs and do updates. Includes network and printer settings.
  • Help department staff and faculty at their computers for things you are trained to doAssist researchers' access to in-house, Linux-based services.
  • Maintain and update group's documentation for ourselves and users for things you are knowledgeable about.
  • Ability to work well with others is essential.

  • Perform web page edits.

• Maintain organization of computer-related equipment.
  • Includes moving computer equipment in and out of our office, and making sure things go to the right places, and that locations are properly labeled.
  • Includes performing hardware inventory throughout the department.

• Excellent verbal skills.
• Reliable.
• Ability to work independently is essential.
• Demonstrated Linux administrative skills.
• An interest in running high performance computing clustersRegularly use either Windows or Mac computers.
• Preferable skills:
  • Administrating production Linux servers and/ or a large number of Linux systems.
  • Capacity to discover and implement Linux-based solutions to optimize maintenance and configuration chores.
  Use of cloud-based, high-performance, computing resources.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn computer software maintenance and configuration skills
• Occasional ability to lift up to 50 pounds is a plus.
