Genetic characteristics: Serovar Kinondoni is considered rare, and there is no known literature that has studied it.
Animal reservoir: To date, the Linnaeus lizard remains the only known animal reservoir for serovar Kinondoni.
Geographical distribution: Serovar Kinondoni has been reported in the US, Canada, and Europe such as France, Sweden, Australia, and the UK.
Human outbreaks:
1 Both serovar Litchfield and Kinondoni were isolated.
Sources: In 2017 sesame seeds imported from Nigeria were prevented from entering Greece because Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Kinondoni was isolated from said sesame seeds.
