4.  Item Records for second (or subsequent) titles in a Bound-with (aka "empty" item records)

  AIf the Holdings record has no Holdings Statement info for volumes, supplements, or indexes Single-part Monographs:

  1. Create a new item record
    1. Leave the barcode field BLANK.
    2. The Material Type field should be set to the same type as the first title in the item (e.g. Book, Map, Microform, etc.)
    3. Type "Bound with" in the Enumeration field of the record.
      1. If the item is part of a microfilm, microfiche, microcard, or some other film type, type "Filmed with" in the Enumeration field of the item record (see below).
    4. Save and Close the Item record.

       6. If there are multiple Holdings Statements for volumes, supplements and/or indexes, check whether the data appears correctly in the public catalog, and consult with appropriate staff as applicable.

II. Filmed-With (Microfilm and Microfiche Titles):

Filmed-With resources share many of the same characteristics and instructions as printed Bound-withs, but for microfilm and microfiche materials.  Like printed Bound-Withs, Filmed-With materials may have been cataloged using the "traditional" method (parent holdings note refers to 2nd title, child notes refer to first title), or the "ordinal" method described above (e.g. "noNo.5 on a reel of 7 titles on Microfilm 4665, Reel 3."), or as partially analyzed serials.

1.  Identify which title is first on the microfilm reel, either with a viewer, or from the Instance Notes, Holdings Notes, or from a call number search. If it is not clear which is the first title  on the reel (e.g from damage, lack of a title page, unrecognizable language, etc.), choose one of the titles as the "primary" title. For that title:
