     There's There’s been some discussion around the office about whether you have to add dates to an AACR2 personal name heading if you are updating the record anyway.  The answer is, it is up to your judgment.  You certainly have to add the dates to the 046, but you can choose whether you think it is a good idea to change the heading itself.

       But there are many situations where you may want to add dates, particularly death dates, especially of very famous people.  LC had to give in and allow death dates for Princess Diana.  We'd We’d probably hear from our patrons if we didn't didn’t add Osama bin Laden's Laden’s death date.  Trust your judgment.
