- Contribute to optimizing administration of Chemistry's Linux systems, including research servers and workstations.
- Educate and advise group's IT staff on Linux-based tools and processes.
- Discover and R&D alternative solutions. , research, and develop alternative Linux-based solutions
- Work with group's technical staff to vet test and implement new solutions in a sustainable fashion.
- Automate where appropriate (scripts, etc.)
- Optimize maintenance and configuration activities (consider implementing Puppet or the like.)
- Participate in documenting architecture, processes, and decisions in meaningful ways.
- Facilitate researchers' access to in-house, Linux-based services.
- Ability to work well with others is essential.
