2. CTE Workshops for Library Instructors. HOMEWORK: Before next week's meeting, please ask your unit's instructors about their top concerns with their own teaching. Are there topics that they would like to explore in a workshop?

3. May Teaching Forum planning, etc.

4. Assessment of Law Research Sessions

  5/21*

Structured and unstructured events.  Call will go out soon for topics.  The unstructured part will allow people to create and join their own groups.  Would like a few seed events and asking Instruction Committee for ideas. Locations are Mann 102 and 160.  Lunch provided by  Manndible.  This will be a unique opportunity for people to communicate with their peers.  There will be a wide range of 5 minute lightning rounds.  Some of the lightning rounds may be available via Webex.  Webex may also allow for recording of the lightning rounds.  Will conclude with a debrief to assess the effectiveness of this format.  This extends beyond CUL (IC, TC3, TCPL, etc.).  Speed collaboration sessions are being considered too.

2. CTE Workshops for Library Instructors. HOMEWORK: Before next week's meeting, please ask your unit's instructors about their top concerns with their own teaching. Are there topics that they would like to explore in a workshop?

Chris has been communicating with CTE in regards to ILR instruction and the thought was to expand this effort CUL wide.  Ideas include the one-shot challenge to engage students and keep them focused while using technology.  Another was effective short video production and other technologies for teaching.   Defining outcomes and how to structure the learning process.  Assessment of video segments.  There's no specific timeframe for the workshop(s).

3. May Teaching Forum planning, etc. People from IC are interested in attending some of our events.  Including this one and possibly future article discussions.  Morning refreshment logistics are all set.  Marsha and Tom will pick them up.  Kaila's next reminder will include an RSVP request.  160 Mann has been reserved.  Committee members will help with clean up after the event.  We will call it the Spring Teaching Forum.  We discussed what type of assessment we may want to do.  We're going to consider Webex for the presentation segment.

4. Assessment of Law Research Sessions Attendance has been good.  Sessions have been recorded and will be made available.  We will put the Powerpoint presentations on the Instruction wiki. Final one was on Monday, 4/8.  This hopefully will serve as a model for other units to offer similar trainings in their subject area.  Chris will discuss the idea with HLM.

5. Other: April article discussion on humor in the classroom with Chris Miller.  Office of Undergraduate Research is interested in us preparing a list of library instruction credit courses to be made available on the web for interested students to see. Step one is compiling a list of all the credit courses currently being offered.  Mary is going to compile a list from information she has gathered in the past.  Chris is going to send Mary information on a new course that was just approved.  Mary will share her list for review with an eye toward identifying additions for the list. 5. Request by the Office of Undergraduate Research for a CUL page that lists for-credit research courses that the library offers or is embedded in (e.g., Writing 1420, English 4500, HADM 2720, Writing 2100)---available to undergraduates (this would exclude LAW, for instance).
