Vibrio vulnificus are is a Gram-negative bacteriapathogen1 that can cause foodborne disease. A publication by Scallan et al.2 in 2011 estimated that 17,564 96 human foodborne V. vulnificus cases, including 8 36 deaths, occur annually in the US.
