This fall I am the team leader of the Fall 2010 Inlet Manifold Research Team. Our team started the semester with the goal of proving that pressure recovery exists in the manifold, and then we would move forward to retrofit existing AguaClara plants with faulty manifolds and to design future manifolds to repair . We have since discovered a second important factor of the uneven flow distribution: the horizontal component of the velocity out of the ports! Our team will be using several different models to research these issues. Our semester goals include retrofiting existing AguaClara plants that have faulty manifolds and designing future manifolds to correct the problem of pressure recovery.
