Specific Guidelines for Research Teams

A search for relevant published material should be done to guide current research proposals. This has not been emphasized in the past, but this year it will count towards your grade on this assignment.

The detailed task list should include two sections: previous research and detailed tasks.

The previous research section should include a summary of your team's past research. Only include important or crucial graphs/pictures and conclusions. Do not analyze the data, rather include links to pages that do.

The detailed task list is a list of tasks that your team would hope to accomplish throughout the semester. However, there should be particular emphasis on how you plan to achieve these tasks experimentally or through design. Write out a detailed research plan under each task, identify variables, include links to pages that describe experimental design and procedures. Basically, each detailed task should be detailed enough so that each person on your team can read it and would be able to replicate to some degree in the lab what you set out to doResearch teams will also be expected to emphasize how they will analyze and use the data that is gathered from experiments.

Grading

The detailed task lists will be turned in as a first draft and teams will undergo a brief editing process with Monroe. Teams will then post their final task lists on the wiki as their semester goals.
