Fundraising Strategy

Fundraising concentrates its efforts in Grant Writing and Donor Seeking. Through our efforts we are able to finance the everyday operations of AguaClara. More recently we have been investigating Microfinance as a new area of concentration for Fundraising, however we have yet to reach a conclusion as to the viability of Microfinance in our organization.

Below you will find a summary of our fundraising efforts in each of the areas of concentration. You will also find an explanation of Microfinance as well as the benefits it can hold for AguaClara.

As members of such a unique organization, we must look at into a wider wide-r- gamut of grants than a traditional Outreach team. Due to the uniqueness of AguaClara, we look for grants that satisfy individual parts of AguaClara. We are also able to adapt out grants accordingly by virtue of being so unique. We look for grants that we can tailor to any of the many facets of the project. The Fundraising Team is actively involved in developing relationships with potential donors as well as finding contacts within funding agencies that can advocate for AguaClara within their respective organizations. In this respect, the Fundraising sub-team group works closely with the Public Relations sub-team group. This collaboration occurs because many contacts can yield potential sources of funding as well as opportunities for a press release.

AguaClara is an organization exceeds professionalism and adherence to its own ethical guidelines. This commitment to ethics and professionalism is shown in the list of potential donors and contacts and in our correspondence to these individuals and organizations.

What is Microcredit?

In general Microcredit projects can range anything between lending to an individual to implementing a project which would help the whole community at large (generally with the aid of the government or a Non-governmental charitable institution). The current Microcredit projects in Central America are mainly concentrated on Small S+s+mall size businesses. Microcredit in Central America has been growing at a steady pace of 20% in the last decade with Honduras among the lower end of growth spectrum.

How does Microcredit work?

Many of the Honduras villages have a Water Board that keeps tax records. The Microcredit institution could verify their credit worthiness and provide them the initial investment required to build the water treatment plant and pay the salaries of the AguaClara/APP employees working on the project.
