I originally worked at the Pilot Plant summer 2008 and spent the Fall semester taking CEE 454, as well as being able to travel with members of the AguaClara team to Honduras over winter recess.   I know last semester there were many technical problems with the pilot plant but I hope that this semester we will be able to get the plant functioning effectively, determine appropriate alum dosing, and obtain data via the use of a new, easily adjusted baffle to show turbidity profiles for different baffle arrangementsDuring the Spring 2009 semester I resumed worked with the Pilot Plant team, specifically designing and constructing a new baffle system for the flocculation tank, which has been completed and installed at the pilot plant and am now currently working on building an additional system so we can swap out the systems and change configurations while keeping the tank running and obtaining results. As subteam leader I have been working to keep the team motivated and distributing work evenly among all group members while making sure all voices are heard. This has been very important, since our design of the new baffle system was very pragmatic and as a group we were vetted out the flaws in each iteration of our design until an effective and simple design was achieved.
